Deanna Troi is a fictional character in the Star Trek franchise, primarily known for her role in Star Trek: The Next Generation. She served as the ship's counselor aboard the USS Enterprise-D and later the USS Enterprise-E.

Troi is half-human and half-Betazoid, a race known for their telepathic abilities. This gives her empathic abilities, allowing her to sense the emotions and general well-being of others. Her role as counselor primarily involved assisting crew members with personal issues and offering insights during diplomatic situations. She often provided insights into the motivations and feelings of alien species encountered by the Federation.
